I was walking through the grocery store a few months ago and I saw these tiny little chickens named cornish hens. I was really curious about what meals I could make with these tiny and cute little chickens! So I did some research and they are one of my favorite things to cook now.
My husband loved when I did a garlic butter stuffed style hen with lemon. This past week, he decided we should make them again, but he added his own twist! His recipe was better than mine so I thought I would share! Subscribe via email, comment, and share! Let me know how you like it.
Ingredients
- 2 cornish hens
- Slice of bread
- Salt
- Pepper
- Bacon
- Olive oil
- Red and orange peppers
- Onion
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Cayenne powder
- Olive oil
Directions
- Wash your hens thoroughly, with vinegar or lime and set aside. Make sure to clean the inside as well. (The cornish hens I got already had the innards removed.)
- Dice and de-seed peppers, dice bacon, dice onion, and add all ingredients for the stuffing in a food processor and blend well. Set aside.
- Season the hens with the olive oil and dry seasonings thoroughly.
- With a spoon, add the stuffing into each hen.
- Once prepared, place the hens in a pan inside your oven or air fryer.
- Set the air fryer or oven to 375° for 25 minutes.
- Flip the hens over. Cook for another 25 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature and baste the hens with the liquids that cooked off in the pan. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- You can serve with your sides of choice. My husband made eggplant and Brussel sprouts in a teriyaki marinade with salt and pepper.
- Serve and enjoy!
